Village Green – Kikuyu

Village Green is a type of kikuyu, which is hard wearing, has soft texture and requires low maintenance. It is a fact growing creeping grass, ideal for places having high traffic. It is a warm season grass and for this reason may show some color fading during harsh winters. However, as compared to other warm season grasses in winters, it reflects better color and is also tolerant to frost.  It is dark green in color and stays greener throughout winter.

No other warm season grass has better winter activity than village green. Unlike other warm season grasses, which go into dormancy during winters, Village Green is actively growing.

Village green kikuyu requires lesser water to grow and once fully established the requirement of fertilizers and water is minimal. It is a drought tolerant grass and can resist a lot of wear. If damaged, it has a faster rate of repair as compared to other lawn turf grasses.

Village green kikuyu a nicer looking grass and can be mowed lower without damaging the turf. It is fast growing creeping lawn grass and can be very invasive. For this reason, in summers it has to be mowed regularly to keep it under control.
